The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of two main Divisions - the San Francisco Health Network and Population Health. The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer of the San Francisco Health Network (SFHN), the 0943 Manager VIII – Chief Administrative Officer, Ambulatory Services serves as a senior executive on the SFHN and San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) leadership teams. This position entails the strategic oversight, operation, and organization of SFHN ambulatory services, ensuring alignment with the SFHN and SFDPH mission and strategic objectives. The Chief Administrative Officer provides the vision and executive leadership to achieve organizational goals and objectives while managing special grants and projects as directed by executive and legislative branches of City and County of San Francisco (CCSF) government related to health care delivery system reform efforts.
The Chief Administrative Officer, Ambulatory Services is responsible for the following clinical and administrative areas: Primary Care (hospital and community-based) with integrated mental health and substance use services; Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health; Whole Person Integrated Care; HIV Health Services; care for people incarcerated in correctional facilities managed by San Francisco Jail Health Services; and Health at Home services.

Required Minimum Qualifications (all applicants must verify that they meet both elements below):
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
Education substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years. One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years (equivalent to 8,000 hours) of managerial experience in program development or administration in a healthcare, social services, or
closely related setting, all qualifying experience must include supervising employees.

Note: One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours of qualifying work experience (one year if performed full-time at 40 hours per week). Any overtime hours that were worked above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine qualifying hours worked.
