CIPE is Hiring a Program Associate, Policy and Program Learning Near Washington, DC

The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the world through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy, and is an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and civil society to build the institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include Enterprise Ecosystems, Democratic Governance, Business Advocacy, Women’s Economic Empowerment, Anti-Corruption& Ethics and Trade.

The Policy & Program Learning unit (PPL) plays a key role within CIPE’s thought leadership and strategic policy options. PPL team conducts applied research and leverages program experience to facilitate exchange of good practices and reform opportunities among CIPE’s partners and international network.

Position: Program Associate, Policy & Program LearningReports To: Director, Policy & Program Learning Scope: CIPE is seeking a full-time, non-exempt, Washington D.C.-based Program Associate. The Policy & Program Learning (PPL) team identifies strategic reform opportunities, shares models of effective business leadership in democracy programs, and facilitates exchange of good practices among international partners. This position is responsible for providing programmatic, administrative, and research support to the PPL team and its projects. Responsibilities:

  • Work with all PPL staff to process invoices, contracts, grant agreements, vouchers, advances, liquidations, consultant payments, partner payments, payment requests and other financial documents using an electronic payment and filing system
  • Communicate with the Grants and Finance division regarding payments and guidelines, serving as a resource on payments compliance to PPL staff
  • Prepare travel authorizations and travel expense reports for PPL staff and handle basic international travel logistics
  • Track and coordinate with PPL staff on spending accounts against a budget
  • Work with PPL Program Officer to track active projects across regions and areas of practice, collect information around organizational priorities, and collect feedback on PPL activities
  • Assist the PPL team in the creation and distribution of monthly newsletters, social media content, and member outreach as needed
  • Conduct research on topics related to democracy, private enterprise, and market-oriented reforms, as needed
  • Assist with the development of proposals and donor reports in coordination with Program staff as needed
  • Provide support on project implementation as needed
  • Organize, schedule, and record notes for PPL team meetings
  • Prepare routine correspondence and mailings and perform clerical duties as needed
  • Adhere to appropriate office procedures, CIPE, NED and USAID policies and procedures
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience in one of the following or equivalent fields: International Relations, International Business, Economic Development, Political Science, Public Policy, or Business Administration
  • Minimum one year of administrative office experience
  • Proficiency in MS-Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience conducting data entry to disburse payments to individuals, suppliers, and partners
  • Good financial acumen and ability to monitor project budgets
  • Superior organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
  • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with social media platforms, content creation, and basic graphic design skills a plus.
  • Flexibility to collaborate with a team or work independently and deliver consistent, reliable results
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment, across time zones and hybrid setting
  • Detail oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of culture competence
  • Ability to contribute to an organization-wide culture of innovation, integrity, inclusion, and respect
  • Knowledge of economic development and democratic governance preferred
  • Overseas school and/or work experience, foreign language, a plus
