Payroll Specialist

Position Description

Overview

The Payroll Specialist reports to the Total Rewards Manager with accountability for providing strategy, judgment, organization, and evidenced-based analysis to influence decisions, and directly to meet CINQCARE requirements. Primary Responsibilities

The Payroll Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Audits the payroll/time and attendance system to identify issues, find solutions, and develop recommendations for making changes to improve payroll processing.
  • Reviews, edits, and audits time and attendance transactions for accuracy and completeness including such items as hours worked, employee status and leave without pay, payments for accumulated benefits and other information relative to employee payroll records.
  • Manages and processes direct deposit pay and voluntary payroll deductions including deferred compensation, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, loan and arrears payments, and all other voluntary payroll deductions along with related remittances to appropriate recipients to include garnishments.
  • Reviews employee records to complete employment and income verifications for various authorities, agencies, and businesses.
  • Conducts orientation and training for payroll/time and attendance functions for managers, timekeepers, and end users.
  • Compiles, generates, and analyzes bi-weekly payroll reports and other reports as required.
  • Maintains various records and files related to employee status and salary history.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

General Duties

The Payroll Specialist shall have following duties:

  • Collaboration: The Payroll Specialist will ensure that Washington, DC capabilities form a cohesive offering, including by working closely with other business divisions to learn their needs, internalize their knowledge, and define solutions to achieve the business objectives of CINQCARE.
  • Knowledge: The Payroll Specialist will provide subject matter expertise in payroll solutions, including determining and recommended approaches for payroll processing, solution deployment, and performance evaluation.
  • Culture: The Payroll Specialist is accountable for creating a productive, collaborative, safe and inclusive work environment for the team and as part of the larger Company.

Qualifications

The Payroll Specialist should have the following qualification:

  • Education:High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s in Business Administration/Accounting or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2-4 years of payroll processing experience. Ideal candidates will have 3 years of relevant payroll processing experience in the healthcare industry. Experience with HRIS systems. Excellent data entry, data cleaning, and math skills. Knowledge of payroll, garnishments, and benefits distribution. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to experience with Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
  • Entrepreneurial: CINQCARE seeks to fix gaps that have persisted for generations in the delivery of care to Black and Brown populations. This position is accountable for ensuring CINQCARE is positioned to innovatively deliver on its promise. Knowledge of compliance with federal, state, and local tax and wage & hour laws, regulations, deduction, and guidelines.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills; ability to clearly articulate and present concepts and models in an accessible manner to CINQCARE’s team, investors, partners, and other stakeholders. Capacity to keep track of numerous ongoing tasks. Proven experience and ability to handle and protect confidential information.
  • Relationships. Ability to build and effectively manage relationships with business leaders and external constituents. Successfully perform in a time sensitive, deadline-driven environment and must possess exceptional analytical skills.
  • Culture: Good judgement, impeccable ethics, and a strong team player; desire to succeed and grow in a fast-paced, demanding, and entrepreneurial Company. Adherence to all prescribed ethical guidelines, including confidentiality.

Location: Washington, DCCompensation: $65,000 - $75,000
