About the Position

At CABVI, we rely on an accurate financial system to drive our business forward. The Staff Accountant keeps the system running smoothly by providing timely and accurate preparation, calculation, and reconciliation of various transactions and processes for our accounting department.We are searching for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our organization.

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant role will perform technical, accounting, and administrative activities required to ensure effective reporting for internal management and external users. This person will be assisting in day-to-day accounting processes as well as the month end and year-end financial close, and ad hoc projects. This position reports to the Accounting Director.

Objectives of this role

  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and documented.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
  • Utilize ERP system to effectively manage and analyze data.
  • Support accounting department with thoughtful financial insights and proactively communicate inconsistencies in financial data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Prepare daily and monthly journal entries for various general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly and prepare and post daily cash transactions.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare and submit client billing for the Vision Services department.
  • Assist Human Resources in the preparation and submission of weekly and bimonthly payroll.
  • Assist Development team with grant applications by providing financial information.
  • Monitor and track agency grant spending.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for NIB.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve accounting issues.
  • Provide financial analysis to management as requested.
  • Develop and document processes and policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives to gain exposure and support other areas of finance.
  • Assist with year-end closing processes and financial audit.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications


Applicant Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
  • 3 years’ experience in accounting
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidentiality and integrity
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
