Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of immigrant adults seeking to enhance their language skills and cultural understanding? 

Your Mission:

As an Adult ESL Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping our adult learners improve their English language skills and gain a deeper understanding of American culture. You will guide them on their journey toward citizenship, providing valuable knowledge about the naturalization process, American history, government, geography, and symbols. Your role will involve creating engaging lesson plans, administering tests, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.

Your Impact:

As an Adult ESL Instructor you will:

  • Teach ESL and citizenship classes, whether remotely, in a classroom, or through a hybrid format.
  • Enhance students' listening, speaking, writing, and reading abilities in English.
  • Deliver instruction on the naturalization process, interview components, and American culture.
  • Educate students on their rights and responsibilities as lawful permanent residents and citizens.
  • Develop culturally sensitive syllabi, lesson plans, and teaching materials.
  • Utilize technology to enrich the learning experience.
  • Maintain accurate student records and attendance reports.
  • Contribute to agency reports through our Salesforce database system.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development to continually improve your teaching skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, human services, or a related field.
  • TEFL certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience teaching ESL or citizenship to adults.
  • Willingness to complete required training programs within six months of employment.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Knowledge of Adult Basic Education and ESL instruction.
  • Basic computer skills for word processing, data entry, and internet research.
  • Familiarity with the naturalization process and U.S. government and history (if teaching citizenship).
  • The ability to be onsite at our Chicago Chinatown CASL HQ three days a week

Preferred:

  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus
