Description

Job Purpose:

Recruit, train, and support child care centers, afterschool, and summer programs for participation in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP); conduct monitoring reviews and complete required documentation; provide technical assistance and customer service; conduct and report outreach activities; participate in regional, state and team meetings; all other duties as assigned.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct and report on outreach activities; recruit new afterschool and summer programs childcare centers to participate in CACFP and SFSP.
  2. Support afterschool and summer programs and childcare centers in the operation of and compliance in the CACFP and SFSP: a. Train site and center staff on CACFP or SFSP regulations, agency procedures, and software use
  3. b. Coordinate annual site application process and food order launch for all afterschool and summer partner sites.

    c. Review and adjust food orders daily based on Average Participation and food inventory to minimize food costs due to unclaimable meals/snacks.

    d. Frequently travel to partner sites to conduct monitoring reviews; provide support and guidance to out-of-compliance sites, including technical assistance, re-training, corrective action and closure of review.

    e. Provide customer service to ensure participating sites and centers are claiming and meeting program requirements.

    f. Monitor and process disallowances on monthly child care center claims.

    g. Review and process all required paperwork.

  4. Coordinate with the Data, Quality and Compliance team and others to provide a seamless program for sites and centers.
  5. Develop and maintain appropriate community contacts to increase awareness of CACFP and SFSP and bring additional resources to the program.
  6. Assist in the development of promotion, education and program specific resources.
  7. Participate in regional, state, and team meetings.
  8. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Youth Development, Education, Communications, Social Work or similar field or 2 years relevant experience deemed appropriate; experience with structured child care programs and training preferred
  • Valid State of Ohio Drivers License

Knowledge of:

  • USDA Child and Adult Care Food and Summer Food Service Program regulations
  • Child nutrition and/or public health
  • Child/youth development
  • Program implementation and evaluation

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Training and presentation skills; ability to speak/train in group settings
  • Planning, organizing, prioritizing and time management skills; able to manage multiple tasks and juggle competing priorities while remaining attentive to detail
  • Ability to understand and adhere to specific federal, state and agency regulations and procedures
  • Ability to assist program partners, including providing feedback and technical assistance to maintain program compliance
  • Customer service skills including attentiveness, problem-solving, flexibility, and anticipating program needs and challenges
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including email, the Internet, and various software programs
