Job Description
The Laboratory Business Department at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant. This role serves the Pathology Department and reports directly to the Laboratory Business Operations Manager. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, editing reports for pathologist review, slide maintenance, case accessioning, and fielding phone calls. An ideal candidate would have knowledge of medical terminology, good grammar and communication, problem-solving and organization skills. Experience in Microsoft Office is required. Working knowledge of Sunquest, Epic and Beaker are recommended, but not required.
Experience
  • 2 years' experience in administrative role
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs customer service functions; greets and directs visitors, answers and directs calls, provides information/assistance regarding department/division services, activities, distributes forms/documentation as requested; responds to routine questions or complaints and relays messages; research problems/complaints and initiates problem resolution.
  • Performs general clerical duties to include, but not limited to, photocopying, receptionist, data entry, mail distribution, and filing.
  • Types, prepares, or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, lists, or other documents within designated timeframes and per established procedures.
  • Coordinates meetings, classes, and other events as required, including identifying needed resources and arranging for required support.
  • Copies and distributes forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation.
  • Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within applicable logs, forms, records, etc.
  • Collects records and tracks data on daily and weekly reports.
  • Maintains continuous professionalism when engaging with employees, visitors, vendors, or others as needed to coordinate work activities, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Performs other department-specific duties and other assignments as appropriate.
