Job Description: 

The HR Director is responsible to develop and implement recruitment, talent acquisition, and retention strategies that align with the vision of the company and Operator. He or she works directly with the Operator and Directors to meet all staffing needs, ensuring we have the right people on the team in the right places.

Job Responsibilities

Sourcing and Recruiting 

  • Internally and externally network and develop talent pools; attend career fairs; present an attractive brand to potential candidates resulting in more quality applicants; write job descriptions; initiate vision for recruiting materials 

Interviewing and Selection

  • Team Members: process applications and host interviews weekly; interview top candidates; schedule/coordinate second interview with the appropriate director; coordinate orientation details to selected candidates
  • Leadership: attend career fairs; post job openings through online job sites; process resumes; administer screening phone interviews; select candidates and administer first in-­person interviews; schedule following interviews with pointed interviewer; remain point of contact throughout the interview process 

Orientation and Onboarding

  • Work with the Operator to create an orientation experience that provides a remarkable beginning to Team Members’ experience with us
  • Facilitate initial onboarding: process paperwork, meet in-person with new hires to go over policies and procedures
  • Work closely with Training Director to have a seamless transition from onboarding to new Team Member training

Retention Initiatives: 

  • Constantly assess team morale through observation and speaking with staff from all levels in order to increase retention, minimize turnover, and protect the brand 
  • Meet with all Team Members at scheduled intervals to assess job satisfaction, receive feedback, and join them on their journey of growth and development
  • Communicate and facilitate retention initiatives: Remarkable Futures Scholarship, Employee Assistance Program, etc
  • Plan Team Member parties and outings and Team Member appreciation week
  • Create additional ways to connect with Team Members through celebrating accomplishments, life milestones, etc
  • Facilitate quarterly bell curving with Operations Directors to assess Team Member performance and identify opportunities for raises, promotions, or pruning

Disciplinary and Corrective Actions

  • Serve as a primary or secondary voice for needed disciplinary and corrective conversations
  • Work with Chick-fil-A Legal and Operator to ensure employment law compliance. Consult and advise around proper next disciplinary steps
  • Be a policies and procedures advocate: address any drift or noncompliance (ie. Uniform, appearance, and attendance standards)

HR Admin

  • Maintain Team Member files, ensuring we are in compliance with state and federal laws
  • Compile and write job descriptions for all roles
  • Manage digital and paper application flow
  • Work with leadership to keep clean documentation of Team Member disciplinary action, ensuring we’re in compliance with state and local laws
  • Communicate quickly and efficiently with Team Member requests and needs (i.e. assisting with health insurance inquiries, uniform request, relationships with staff, direct deposit, etc.) 

The nature of the role requires an individual who can practice confidentiality, maturity, and self-awareness as he or she will be involved in sensitive conversations. The person who fills this role has a people-first mindset: they desire to care for others well, but also maintain a position of fairness as the needs of the business are considered. While this role is primarily executed during normal business hours, the right candidate will be available for occasional evenings or weekends based off of the needs of the business.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of HR experience or college degree
  • SHRM certification or willingness to become certified
  • Knowledge of and passion for the Chick-fil-A Brand
  • Track record of integrity and good decision making
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that will require standing, lifting, and walking
