Cherokee Nation is Hiring a Substitute instructor Near Tahlequah, OK

Overview In absence of the teacher, teaches school students academic, social, and motor skills. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS No additional experience is required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have knowledge of a variety of teaching methods, principles of elementary and / or secondary education an appropriate subject matter as well as possess skills in communication, recording data, and construction of testing items.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals / Entities (LEIE).

Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Lectures, demonstrates, and uses audiovisual teaching aids to present subject matter to class. Prepares, administers, and corrects tests, and records results.

Assigns lessons, corrects papers, and hears oral presentations. Enforces classroom and Center rules. Teaches and demonstrates employability skills.

Maintains order in classroom and on school property. Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise. Provides documentation to supervisor.

Discusses students' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with appropriate supervisor, Center Counselor and Center Student Resources Officer.
