Description

The Corporate Accounting Manager oversees the Corporate accounting team and works closely with business finance teams to drive the Corporate accounting function and reporting. This individual reports to Corporate Controller and is responsible for managing the Corporate ledger and monthly close cycle. In addition, this person works with the various Corporate departments to develop the Corporate financial plans, analyzes Corporate’s monthly financials, and prepares the monthly Corporate cash forecast. This individual will also support the Corporate Controller with internal and external reporting as well as the external audit.

The Corporate Accounting Manager is an integral part of the corporate finance group, interacts with the global finance team and is involved in cross departmental and strategic initiatives and projects. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detail oriented and hands-on in their approach, forward thinking and have strong problem solving and interpersonal skills. This individual must be able to manage several tasks or projects simultaneously, effectively communicate with external vendors/suppliers and internal customers (including finance controllers, IT, treasury, tax, HR, and other individuals) and have thorough knowledge of US GAAP.

Responsibilities:

• Drive the Corporate ledger accounting processes and related month-end close (including recording appropriate journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and submitting results).
• Perform various financial analyses, including monthly income statement and balance sheet variance analysis for Corporate entities.
• Provide justification and support for complex and subjective accounts (workers compensation liabilities, medical IBNR, payroll accounts).
• Manage the accounting for ASC 842 Leases compliance
• Oversee the administration of the fixed asset system
• Determine and manage Corporate allocations to the businesses.
• Prepare annual Corporate financial plan.
• Research existing or new technical pronouncements to advise on the financial implications of such pronouncements and provides guidance on the implementation of such pronouncements.
• Lead process improvement efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness within Corporate processes along with cost down initiatives related to Corporate-directed spend.
• Maintain and regularly validate the Corporate financial control structure.
• Assist with annual audits of benefit plan financial statements (401k) as necessary
• Manage certain corporate vendors, as assigned.
• Responsible for the supervision of one staff; Mentoring and providing support
• Perform special projects, as required, to assist the department and the Company in achieving its goals and objectives

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred. 

Expierence & Skills:

• 5 years’ experience in public accounting, or similar progressive accounting experience. 
• Prior experience supervising staff and leading an accounting function.
• Extensive knowledge of general ledger, internal controls, and US GAAP requirements
• Ability to clearly communicate accounting conclusions to staff, finance, other corporate departments, and business teams
• Strong problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to communicate and present information accurately and succinctly.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and proactive, both with respect to managing workload and own professional development—strong work ethic. 
• Able to adjust to changing priorities—ability to prioritize work, problem solve and meet deadlines.
• Ability to function well independently as well as in a team-oriented environment
• Proficiency in the use ERP systems. Experience with Oracle and Hyperion HFM is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
