1. Process insurance claims: The Billing Specialist is responsible for processing insurance claims for patients who receive services. They must ensure that all necessary information is submitted to the insurance company, including diagnostic codes, treatment codes, and other relevant information. The biller is to identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.

2. Verify insurance coverage: The Billing Specialist must verify that patients have insurance coverage for services rendered, and that insurance is in effect at the time of treatment. This may involve contacting insurance companies and reviewing insurance policies.

3. Monitor billing processes: The Billing Specialist must monitor the billing process to ensure that all claims are submitted accurately and in a timely manner. They must also track the status of claims and follow up on any rejected claims.

4. Stay up-to-date on industry changes: The Billing Specialist must stay up-to-date on changes in the healthcare industry and insurance regulations that may affect daily billing practices. They must also attend training sessions and continuing education courses to maintain their knowledge and skills.

Overall, the Billing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the care they need and that treatment providers are paid for their services. You must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work effectively with team members, providers, and insurance companies.

Education & Requirements:

● High school diploma or equivalent required.

● 3 years billing experience in substance use disorder and mental health required; experience with a facility providing multiple levels of care preferred.

● 3 years of experience working with healthcare systems, diagnostic coding, and procedural codes.

● Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems required.

● KIPU Experience preferred.

● CollaborateMD Experience preferred.

● Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
