BIOCROSSROADS OVERVIEW:
BioCrossroads, the life sciences initiative of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), ignites the continued growth of Indiana’s robust life sciences industry by activating the sector through strategic research and market knowledge, strengthening the substrate of the Indiana ecosystem with a focus on talent, companies and capital and cultivating the community by connecting and convening academic, corporate, and philanthropic partners.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Director of Talent and Workforce Development works directly with the Chief Strategy Officer in advancing BioCrossroads’ mission to build a world-class employment-ready workforce for Indiana’s statewide life sciences community through (1) leading the implementation of a statewide life sciences training ecosystem (2) developing, implementing and growing successful programs and tools that will raise awareness and understanding of the vast array of roles and careers within life sciences, and (3) leading BioCrossroads efforts to support workforce and talent initiatives driven by key partners and stakeholders.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead implementation of a state-wide, life sciences training ecosystem through partnership with employers, educational institutions and other key stakeholders.
  • Through partnerships with key stakeholders, execute plans and lead project management for a state-wide training ecosystem, beginning with a focus on pharmaceutical manufacturing then evolving to encompass broader subsectors, employers, educational institutions and local stakeholders.
  • Support planning and implementation for Indiana’s iLab efforts to establish a modern youth apprenticeship program for life sciences and healthcare occupations.
  • Identify employers’ high priority roles, aggregate employers’ demand for such roles, define the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) for such roles, and define the curriculum to develop the KSAs.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders statewide and regionally within K-12 schools, secondary and postsecondary institutions, industry, public sector and other aligned organizations.
  • Develop and manage reporting measures to track impact of and satisfaction with the training ecosystem.
Develop, implement and grow successful programs and tools to build awareness and understanding of life sciences careers in Indiana.
  • Develop programming, resources and tools for students, guidance counselors and teachers as well as general job seekers to educate on life sciences careers and pathways.
  • Ensure programs are designed to promote inclusivity and the development of a diverse life sciences workforce in Indiana.
  • Continuously improve programs to more effectively meet workforce needs and reach broad audiences.
Lead BioCrossroads efforts to support and enhance workforce and talent initiatives led by CICP, CICP branded initiatives and other external stakeholders by representing the voice of the life sciences sector.
  • Coordinate with and support CICP and other branded initiatives in growing cross-sector workforce programs.
  • Participate in and represent the life sciences sector at career fairs, educational events and other events that promote life sciences career awareness.
Other
  • Serve as a key thought partner for the SVP, Chief Strategy Officer.
  • Develop and manage budget for workforce and talent programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by the SVP, Chief Strategy Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, Life Sciences or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in life sciences, healthcare or higher education required.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state to meet with key audiences and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of and experience with education programs and processes and/or HR and hiring/development preferred.
  • Strong project management skills, exhibiting excellent planning, coordination, and organizational skills and ability to lead project deliverables through to completion.
  • Ability to convene disparate groups around common goals and to align parties to make decisions when needed.
  • Work with an agile mindset, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish, cultivate and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable pieces, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage to milestones and then execute effectively.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
