Central Indiana Corporate Partnership is Hiring an Ascend - Quality Assurance Engineer Intern (Summer 2024) Near Indianapolis, IN

An initiative of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Ascend collaborates with corporate, education, philanthropic, and community partners, and is well-positioned to play a leadership role in addressing Indiana’s workforce challenges.
The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer Intern will support the Vice President of Product Development and the Product team in developing the Ascend Network’s automation framework. The Ascend Network (Network) is a talent matching platform designed to connect Indiana job seekers with good and promising jobs and work-based learning opportunities. The QA Engineer Intern will work to build and optimize automation solutions for the Network, assist in the testing and documentation of the product quality, and support in other high priority projects as assigned.
To be successful in this role you must be…
Interested in designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
  • You assist the team in the design and development of scalable and maintainable automation frameworks tailored to the Network.
  • You evaluate existing automation tools and technologies and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • You assist in identifying and prioritizing test cases suitable for automation.
  • You draft clean, maintainable, and efficient code for automated tests and framework components.
  • You utilize automation tools and technologies (e.g., Selenium) to automate functional, regression, and performance testing.
  • You analyze test results, investigate failures, document defects with bug tracking tools, and troubleshoot issues to ensure accurate and reliable test execution.
  • You work closely with developers to integrate automated tests into deployment pipelines. 
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate institution with a 3.0 GPA.
  • Current Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related major.
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle, automation testing concepts, and quality assurance principles.
  • Familiarity with software testing techniques, methodologies, and tools.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in leading projects and achieving ambitious, quantifiable outcomes.
  • A detail-oriented self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable activities, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage to milestones, and then execute effectively.
  • Ability to learn new technology tools and processes quickly. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite preferred.
  • Track record of successfully working collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrate ethical handling of confidential information.
Details
  • Manager: Vice President of Product Development, Ascend Indiana
  • Office location: 16 Tech, downtown Indianapolis, with hybrid work (in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week)
  • Work week: Up to 40 hours/week
  • Pay Rate: $15 / hr for undergraduate student
  • Travel: None
