Centers is Hiring a Coordinator - Operations and Events Near Cleveland, OH

Overview

CENTERS, LLC is a professional management firm specializing in facility, operation, and program management for higher education. CENTERS' management approach is customized for each client yet retains our uniform quality. Our firm unites site staff with a centralized administrative team, each contributing to the firm's goals and client needs. The CENTERS team is innovative, entrepreneurial, trail-blazing, and ambitious for both CENTERS and our clients. Today, CENTERS provides management services for 14 clients.

Responsibilities

The Coordinator, Operations and Events provides support for the events and operations of the Cleveland State University (CSU) Student Center. In addition, the Coordinator will assess the clients' needs, negotiate the details of event arrangements, and facilitate the details of client's events hosted in the Recreation Center to meet rental revenue goals. They will oversee and manage operations of the Student Center including the Information Desk for campus visitors.

This position will work on-site at Cleveland State University. CSU is selected as one of America’s Best Colleges by US News & World Report by providing a comprehensive metropolitan university committed to a high-quality education to students with diverse backgrounds, experiences, interests, and needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Schedule and lead operation of the Student Center Information Desk to provide resources and customer service to visitors
  • Oversee the event planning, coordination, and execution for Rec Center rental clients
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures for Student Center operations
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparations for safety and security of the facility; Complete facility and equipment inspections
  • Use scheduling software to maintain up to date building schedule, event reservations, resource bookings, billing and collections
  • Support event logistics and coordinate internal resources as needed and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, partners, and vendors
  • Assist with planning hallmark University events
  • Assist with day of event set up, event execution, and tear-down; supervise assigned events
  • Evaluate effectiveness of area; prepares and delivers required and requested reports and data to the client and CENTERS central office
  • Assist with budget construction and maintenance

Staff Supervision

  • Responsible for approving timecards and preparing necessary documents/reports in preparation for payroll
  • Responsible for hiring supervision, training and mentoring subordinate staff

Site Specific Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Student Center stakeholders and Facilities Services, Office of the Architect, Campus Safety, and Informational Services & Technology (F.A.S.T)
  • Serve on department and university committees

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 or more years of work experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in special event operations, event planning, facility operations, or customer service related field

Skills and Abilities

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm
  • Ability to respond to problems and to assist clients with a calm, courteous, and helpful manner and attitude
  • Ability to consider and mitigate risk during event planning process
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Demonstrated experience and abilities to work as part of a professional team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
  • Analytical skills to identify problems; assess alternatives; and render consistent, logical decision
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Physical presence on site at client location; expectation to follow client’s work-from-home policy
  • Office environment/event environment
  • Moderate to loud noise
  • Work within a non-smoking environment
  • Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to accommodate events
  • Evening/Weekend work responsibility as required

Physical Demands

  • Sitting at desk or table for at least 70% of the work day
  • Working in an events environment
  • must be able to traverse throughout buildings and campus. Regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally ladders or stools.
  • Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with event patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.
