Full-time, non-exempt status position

The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland was founded on April 23, 1847. It is the twenty-third largest diocese in the United States. Under the leadership of the Most Reverend Edward J. Malesic, the diocese encompasses the counties of Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Wayne and Ashland. There are more than 670,000 Catholics in the Diocese, and Catholic Charities. There are 184 parishes, 107 Catholic schools, 1 pastoral center and 1 mission office within the diocese. The cathedral is the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, located in downtown Cleveland. The mission of the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) is to foster faith-based stewardship in the community for the spiritual, educational and charitable needs of all.

The Diocese of Cleveland is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Executive Assistant and Coordinator of Special Projects/Events. Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Catholic Community Foundation, the assistant provides executive assistance to the Executive Director and manages special projects and events in support of the CCF.

Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists the Executive and Assistant Executive Director in the overall management of CCF operations.
  • Acts as a liaison with the Bishop’s office related to scheduling meetings, preparing acknowledgements and other related activities.
  • Assists targeted major gift initiatives including donor relations, preparation of documents/letters, scheduling meetings, preparing donor reports, maintaining donor records, and preparing donor profiles.
  • Maintains Executive Director, community and CCF calendars; and assists in coordinating related activities within the Diocesan community and with external community leaders, donors and other related activities.
  • Assists in the management of planning and executing meetings and activities for CCF leadership boards, committees, and councils. This includes developing agendas, typing and filing documents, preparing and distributing materials, making meeting arrangements, taking minutes and other related activities.
  • Supports the general functions of the CCF by answering general inquiries, and providing needed and confidential assistance to professional staff on priority matters.
  • Facilitates necessary support, communication and management of key CCF donor events and activities, including the St. John the Evangelist Leadership Guild, Bishop’s Golf Outing and the Alleluia Ball.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Church, its teachings and traditions. Strong Commitment to the teachings, traditions, and evangelization charge of the Catholic Church.
  • Experienced in current business and office management practices and multifaceted administration methods.
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent and at least three (3) years prior administrative experience. A combination of experience, training, or certifications will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently, very organized, detail-oriented. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely proficient in technology including but not limited to setting up online meetings, supporting digital needs of guests and/or presenters and Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be able to collaborate and be flexible to adapt and anticipate changes affecting events and/or schedules.
  • Reliable transportation for events throughout the eight counties of the Diocese.
