Center for Workforce Inclusion is Hiring a Grants and Finance Manager Near Silver Spring, MD

ABOUT US: 

The Center for Workforce Inclusion provides training and support to help older, low-income job seekers across the US overcome multiple barriers to employment, secure a meaningful job, and remain employed. We focus on jobseekers who have been underserved by traditional workforce development programs including formerly incarcerated individuals, Veterans, and women.

OVERVIEW

The Grants and Finance Manager plays a critical role as part of the finance team that provides financial and grants services to the programs, marketing and other operating departments. Primary responsibilities will include broad customer service coordination, budget preparation, grants management and financial management services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client Relations
    • Serve as primary contact for multiple project staff; provide financial analysis, management support, and guidance.
    • With other team members, ensure that services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in a courteous and timely way.
    • Communicate regularly with project directors and provide a high level of customer service around short and long-term financial management and sustainability.
  • Grants Management

    • Support projects’ funding proposals: assist with budgets, review proposals, and provide supporting documents.
    • Ensure complete documentation of funding awards. 
    • Work with programs and compliance department to ensure compliance with funder’s terms and conditions, manage deliverables, monitor spending, request amendments, and plan spend-out.
    • Provide links between program, finance, information technology, and other administrative functions so that all grant management activities are smoothly implemented.
  • Financial Management

    • Support budget creation, budget projections, and analysis of expenses as needed.
    • Assist with the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, funder reports, and others. Document and address issues requiring attention and/or further discussion. 
    • Analyze and monitor projects’ fund and cash balances and keep project and finance team informed of status, and issues.
    • Assist with the development and update of budgeting, financial forecasting, operating plans, and modeling tools in collaboration with CFO and Director of Accounting.
    • In collaboration with the CFO, assess ongoing FP&A processes and tools for continuous improvement and automation opportunities.
    • Assist with and/or prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement reconciliations, roll-forwards, and schedules for financial reporting and audit purposes
    • Assist management with various special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed
    • Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Demonstrated skill in providing a high level of service to multiple customers, ideally in a nonprofit context, required;
  • Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets and data management systems required;
  • Experience working as part of a team delivering coordinated services highly desirable;
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to pay close and accurate attention to details;
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-cultural environment;
  • Commitment to the work of the Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree in business, nonprofit financial management or accounting preferred; five or more years of experience managing grants and nonprofit finances required.
  • Sophisticated nonprofit fund and federal grant accounting and management strongly preferred;
  • FP&A Certificate preferred
  • Budgeting experience required;

POSITION LOGISTICS

  • This position is full-time with full benefits.
  • This position is a hybrid role that combines office days with telework/remote days. The hybrid schedule will be based on responsibilities, meetings, and deliverables.
  •  Candidates must be flexible and able to respond to changing priorities.
  • Travel up to 25%.
