Center For Family Life in Sunset Park is Hiring a Program Director for School Based Early Support Program Near Brooklyn, NY

Description

JOB TITLE: Program Director, School-Based Early Support Program 

DEPARTMENT:  Family Counseling 

EXEMPTION: Exempt 

REPORTS TO: Division Director 

SUPERVISES: Two Supervisors, School Outreach Liaison, Benefits Specialist, Administrative Assistant 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Program Director is responsible for leadership of the School-Based Early Support Program, a new preventive services model that enhances school-based partnerships in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced director to join our leadership team to pilot a new program, enhancing skills in program design, implementation, and building relationships among multiple stakeholders. 

I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to 

  • Facilitate a collaborative, co-design process with school and program staff to develop strong partnerships and family support programming in four school communities 
  • Provide mission-focused administrative and clinical leadership for the program 
  • Supervise two Supervisors, a School Outreach Liaison, a Benefits Specialist, and an Administrative Assistant 
  • Manage referral and intake process for the program and maintain full utilization 
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings with a groupwork approach to building team and collaborative relationships with staff, and provide weekly individual supervision to direct reports 
  • Coordinate activities of Benefits Specialist across schools to most effectively serve the needs of families 
  • Plan and implement parent and children’s groups based on the needs of school communities 
  • Support the implementation of Families and Schools Together (FAST) program, led by the School Outreach Liaison 
  • Collaborate closely with CFL school-based programs (after school, Neighborhood Center, etc.) 
  • Directly manage crises and provide coverage for client care as needed 
  • Manage HR-related processes including hiring and progressive discipline 
  • Ensure all staff complete required training and have professional development plans 
  • Direct the implementation of ACS, OCFS, and CFL policies and procedures; write and maintain program-specific procedures 
  • Allocate resources and track program spending aligned with the budget 
  • Manage facility-related issues as needed 
  • Responsible for ensuring proper and timely utilization of PROMIS and CONNECTIONS, and preparation and submission of data reports as applicable 
  • Ensure all case record documentation is maintained and meets ACS, OCFS standards 
  • Liaise with ACS & OCFS including collaborative QI processes, and audit preparation and response
  • Participate in, and advocate CFL’s priorities at ACS, COFCCA, and other meetings, workgroups, and coalitions. 
  • Collaborate with CFL’s core administrative team including Human Resources, Finance, IT, Data Systems Management, Facilities
  • Member of the Family Counseling leadership team, developing strategic vision and implementing strategies to support staff and maintain high-quality service delivery 
  • Member of CFL’s organizational leadership team responsible for co-creating and implementing CFL’s strategic priorities 
  • Build relationships with community-based service providers and key stakeholders 
  • Collaborate with all CFL programs to ensure an integrated approach to serving families 

II. QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field. LMSW or LCSW preferred 
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus 
  • At least 5 years supervising or directing a child welfare program; candidates with previous experience directing a preventive program preferred 
  • Experience implementing successful school partnerships preferred 
  • Knowledge and experience with groupwork preferred 
  • Previous direct service work with families 
  • Possess a social justice perspective and ability to collaborate with culturally and socioeconomically diverse groups 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills 
  • Facility with OCFS & ACS data systems and Microsoft Office tools 
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends to manage crises, attend community events or meetings 

III. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS 

  • Build and maintain close, daily interactions with co-workers, supervisors, and school staff
  • Effectively communicate with agency staff, school staff, community partners, key stakeholders, and families 
  • Excellent engagement skills, meeting families where they are at and forging mutual respect 
  • Experience or interest in social group work 
  • Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization 
  • Possess a strong belief in people’s ability to grow and change 

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Work will occur between school and office settings 
  • Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer 
  • Attendance at various meetings at partner school sites, the agency, and in the community
  • Regular travel among four schools located in the school district and CFL’s main office 
  • Occasional availability during evenings and weekends required to manage crises, attend community events 
  • Fast-paced, high-energy, and highly collaborative environment 

V. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Program Director provides leadership for the School-Based Early Support Program, facilitating the development of a new program in partnership with schools, CFL programs, and families. They are essential to developing effective school partnerships through intentional co-design and engagement strategies. They are an ambassador for CFL and lead staff by example interacting at all times with a tone of respect and kindness, generosity, and solution-focused problem-solving.

This is a Full-time Salary Exempt position at 35 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience/education.
