Cayuse Government Operations, LLC is Hiring a Digital Communications Specialist Near Washington, DC

JOB TITLE: Digital Communications Specialist

SALARY: $38.00 to $43.50

EMPLOYEE TYPE: Full-Time Hourly Non-Exempt

TRAVEL REQUIRED: No RELOCATION: No

Primary Focus

The Digital Communications Specialist in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) Press Office (SCA/PPD - Press), reporting to the SCA/PPD Social Media Coordinator and the Spokesperson (Press Unit Chief). Duties will focus on support for the Bureau's responsibilities to the Bureau of Public Affairs, the Office of the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the Assistant Secretary of the SCA bureau, including press guidance, speech writing and congressional liaison support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Will be a press, outreach, and social media officer in the Bureau of South and Central Affairs Press and Public Diplomacy Office Press Section (SCA-Press).
  • Works closely with the Office of the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, the office of the Assistant Secretary, SCA desk offices, other SCA senior officials and with the Bureau of Public Affairs to provide press guidance and public affairs support on the full range of SCA issues.
  • Assists the SCA/SRAP spokesperson and press team on relevant issues and will engage with domestic and international media to advance SCA priorities, respond to press inquiries, conduct rapid response in times of crises, and counter negative narratives.
  • Coordinates with other bureaus and offices in preparing senior officials for media engagements and executing such engagements, supporting the Office of the Spokesperson for daily press briefings and other Office of the Spokesperson activities, drafting and clearing press guidance and media products for release, and developing and enhancing SCA social media and digital content. As part of these duties, incumbent may liaise with White House National Security Council press office as well as interagency press officers to coordinate media engagement.
  • In coordination with the SCA staff assistants, incumbent will provide administrative and logistical support to office operations related to domestic and international public speaking engagements by SCA principals. Incumbent will liaise with the Bureau of Public Affairs, Diplomatic Security, and the Office of Protocol as needed to provide technical and logistical support for media engagements.
  • Assists in managing internal digital archives and records of SCA media products and public outreach efforts.
  • As needed, may travel with SCA officials to oversee press and public engagements, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Digital Communications or relevant degree. .
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required.
  • U.S. Department of State experience.
  • Experience with Department of State operations and processes regarding communications, specifically Web and digital-media communications.
  • Developing and managing of various social media outlets and trends analysis for a large organization.
  • Experience working with and understanding a variety of social media platforms and their respective participants X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. and how each platform they can be leveraged for different scenarios.
  • Planning, writing, and editing social media content, video scripts and other various digital campaign products. . Working knowledge of personal computers and general administrative practices, including MS Office Suite, Social Media Operations and systems.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills:

  • Must possess problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
  • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
  • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • Technical Writing skills with experience working on detail-heavy, high-profile communications.
  • Graphic design skills - preferably in Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
  • Working knowledge of video editing/production.
  • Experience drafting and clearing tweets in a fast-paced press office.

  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
