Compensation and Benefits Specialist

Earn $65,000 - $75,000/annually

About the Program and Position:

Cayuga Center’s Human Resources Department has multiple staff, including Recruiters, Benefits Administrators, Specialists, Generalists, and Assistants based in New York City or Auburn, NY.

Cayuga Centers seeks a dedicated individual for the Compensation and Benefits Specialist role. The Specialist provides day-to-day support to the staff regarding inquiries related to benefits and compensations in place at Cayuga Centers. The Specialist will review and update job descriptions for each region in the agency to ensure requirements are up to date and following the guidelines of positions that are exempt vs non-exempt. This role will work with the Assistant Director of Compensation and Benefits to research and analyze the market value of positions, job descriptions, and salaries to ensure they are within an appropriate range for the staff of Cayuga Centers.

How you get to use your skills…

  • Act as the main point of contact for compensation requests by providing day-to-day support for data and other requests, such as supporting new roles and employee changes by ensuring updated compensation data is readily available.

  • Partnering with the Assistant Director of Compensation and Benefits to conduct job evaluations, level jobs, and provide compensation recommendations.

  • Review job description templates and ensure they accurately reflect the requirements of exempt and non-exempt positions according to federal and state laws.

  • Partnering with the Assistant Director of Compensation and Benefits to ensure compensation data and reporting tools are accurately utilized to create salary bands that reflect minimum and maximum salaries

  • Working with the Assistant Director of Compensation and Benefits to support the annual performance review process, including market data analysis, cost-modeling, analytics, reporting, auditing, etc

  • Create documentation for compensation and benefit administration processes and procedures.

  • Support the Cayuga Centers Payroll team by keeping up-to-date records on minimum wage increases and providing wage analysis for new and existing roles, as needed.

  • Collaborate with other Compensation and Benefits Specialists on efforts to support the total rewards strategy, including communicating organizational-wide initiatives that promote benefit offerings.

  • Collaborating with the Deputy for Human Resources to design and facilitate workshops on compensation, benefits, wellness leave management, and other HR initiatives ensures the HR department educates and informs agency leadership and staff.

  • Collaborating with the Deputy for Human Resources to champion and lead learning opportunities to promote professional development in the Human Resources team.

  • Other duties as assigned

Establish a regular and significant presence across Cayuga Centers’ offices, in-person and/or via electronic communications. Hybrid work schedules will be limited. Travel regularly to assigned programs.
