Catbird, a DTC luxury jewelry brand, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our company's finance team. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The position is ideally hybrid in our Brooklyn, NY HQ but for candidates out of state, we are open to a fully remote position.Key Responsibilities
Maintain and ensure the integrity of the company's accounting systems and compliance with GAAPManage month end financial close process (including cash reconciliations, proper review/maintenance of account reconciliations and accruals)Ensure timely preparation, distribution and review of monthly/quarterly financial statements for management and Board presentationsStay current on, research and document new accounting rules that will impact the company; research and support the company's position on various accounting mattersDirectly oversee the accounts payable function while serving as coach and mentor to existing team membersDrive continuous improvements in the company's accounting processes and financial/business controlsManage and support the annual audit process (including audit planning, preparation, support, and implementing ongoing process improvements)Assist with the benchmarking and setting of various financial and/or operational metrics; help develop and maintain metrics and reports to assist with management financial oversightEnsure timely completion of compliance reporting activitiesPartner with the various budget owners to review monthly financial results and variances; and adopt strategies to influence operational behaviorOur Ideal Candidate
BS/BA in Accounting or Finance, CPA optional4 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution company required2 years of experience in a management roleSolid knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes and controlsProficiency in technical accounting research and memo writing and financial reporting strongly preferredExperience with NetSuiteAbility to learn new concepts and technologies quicklyAbility to collaborate with and influence diverse groups and teams in a dynamic and changing environmentOutstanding written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skills including task prioritization and effective time managementExcellent analytical skills and a strong attention to detailA natural leader.Your track record shows numerous occasions of bringing people together, formally or informally, to accomplish something you're passionate aboutPerks & Benefits
