The responsibilities for the position include: Under limited supervision, relative autonomy and general review, forecast product purchases, place purchase orders, negotiate with vendors and manage inventory levels. Incumbents in this job analyze a large variety of product specifications, vendor information and contract needs. To purchase goods for the company in an efficient and economical manner following established policies and procedures in processing purchase orders. Ability to purchase products based on contracts and requisitions. Ability to negotiate terms and transportation arrangements for merchandise. Analyze and monitor sales records, trends and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and determine what the company will sell and how much inventory is needed. Work closely with vendors to obtain desired products. Authorize return of merchandise. Additional duties as assigned.
Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Transportation — Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.

Maintain records of business transactions and product inventories, reporting data to companies or government agencies as necessary.

Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a program of 12 months to 2 years duration in commercial work including purchasing and inventory management, preferred; or 1-2 years purchasing experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience in related field. JE Edwards experience a plus.
