Cares of Western PA is looking for a dedicated and motivated Program Specialist to join our team at our Ross Park location.
Position Summary:
The Program Specialist develops, executes, and manages all day-to-day aspects of the Day Program. They are an integral part of the team and will be looked to, by Direct Support Staff, as a leader and supervisor. The Program Specialist will work closely with the Direct Support Staff Team Lead to ensure quality programming is being offered. The Program Specialist will be a key player in decisions made by the Leadership Team. The Leadership Team will look to the Program Specialist to offer insight to how decisions could impact the Day Program, the Participants and the Staff as well as all other relevant parties. The position is full time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Leadership Team to determine the appropriateness of potential participants for the CARES of Western PA Day Program
- Complete assessment of new individual to determine their abilities and then complete assessments prior to initial and annual meeting.
- Develop individual’s profile detailing skills, strengths, and interests.
- Identify, establish and cultivate working relationships in the community to establish fulfilling volunteer, recreational, and educational activities.
- Work with the Leadership Team to develop and carry out marketing strategies.
- Conduct first interviews and recommend potential staff.
- Contribute to the hiring process of new staff team members.
- Train staff and monitor performance.
- Ensure all staff maintain 24 hours of relevant training annually.
- Function as the supervisor of your Direct Support Staff.
- Work in ratio, as needed, for breaks or call-offs.
- Support transportation needs as needed.
- Provide training on a healthy lifestyle and appropriate social behavior in the community.
- Schedule and attend necessary meetings for individuals.
- Work with individuals’ teams to develop outcomes.
- Give input regarding individual’s progress and outcomes at meetings.
- Work with team to develop Individual Support Plan (ISP) and send copies to funding agency, family, and other team members.
- Ensure that all documentation is up to date in individual’s files for licensing
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements:
- A master’s degree or above from an accredited college or university and 1 year work experience working directly with persons with disabilities OR
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years work experience working directly with persons with disabilities OR
- An associate’s degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and 4 years work experience working directly with persons with disabilities.
- Become, or currently be ACRE Certified
- Ability to use computer effectively and proficiently
- Become, or currently be, certified to pass medication administration
- Become or currently be CPR/FA/AED certified
- Maintain at least 24 hours of relevant training annually
- Document clearly and completely
- Self-motivated
- Ability and desire to teach
