JOB SUMMARY

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will assess, diagnose and provide treatment for mental, emotional and behavioral issues for clients of Capital Area Health Network. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Conducts intake interviews on new clients. Assesses and/or diagnoses client needs.
2. Conducts individual, group, and/or family therapy.
3. Participates in treatment team, staff, and professional meetings to discuss client progress.
4. Assist in developing community resources for preventative mental health services.
5. Prepares and regularly maintains progress notes, treatment plan, closing, and/or transfer summaries on clients and related duties as required.
6. Provides specialized services to CAHN, such as special program coordination and management.
7. Assist families, teachers, and/or related program personnel to develop better resources, communication, and impact in areas pertaining to mental health.
8. Assists with alcohol & sexual abuse programs, as needed to enhance services for patients.
9. Conducts seminars and/or workshops to inform the community about behavioral health problems and services as it relates to the community.
10. Performs other related duties as required.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

1. Knowledge of theories and research on personality and intellectual growth and development, individual differences, human motivation, and abnormal behavior.
2. Knowledge of interview techniques.
3. Knowledge of current trends in the field of mental health.
4. Knowledge of local community resources.
5. Ability to assess, diagnoses, and implement treatment plans for clients.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, community groups, department and agency staff members, and fellow staff members.
7. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
8. Ability to perform counseling services with limited supervision and within a framework of standard policies and procedures. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Master’s Degree in Social Work.
2. Licensure by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
3. Two years full-time work experience in a behavioral health setting. 
4. Possession of a valid Virginia Driver’s License.
