Position Summary
Under the immediate direction of the Property Management & Central Receiving Manager, this position supports the goals of Property & Receiving Services by providing inventory functions. Duties include the maintenance of property accounts and inventory records; clerical tasks such as making data entries for equipment acquisition, transfer or salvage; preparing property reports; and typing and filing of various records and reports. Incumbent also conducts physical inventories; moves equipment, furniture, and supplies, and may operate motor vehicles in the process of moving equipment and furniture from one location to another. Also provides support for warehousing, receiving, property, and retrieval and disbursement of campus surplus property. Other duties include front office customer service support; greeting and assisting customers; faculty, staff, administration, suppliers, and contractors. This position also provides backup by assisting with the work duties of other department employees.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,505 per month - $3,870 per month; commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 per month - $4,829 per month

Salary Grade/Range: 1

Work Hours: Mon-Fri 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Department Information

Under the general lead work direction of the Department Manager, this position supports the goals of the Property Management & Central Receiving Departments.
The Property Management Office tracks state assets and equipment through a procedure of tagging and recording equipment acquisitions and adding them to the WASP asset database. Assets include Capital, Non-Capital, Sensitive, and Federal equipment.
This office is also responsible for making adjustments to property records as assets are surveyed or transferred out of a departments control, conduct physical inventories to account for all assets every three years, and provide reports to departments as required.
Central Receiving is responsible for the processing, sortation, and distribution of inbound shipments for campus staff and faculty. Warehouse staff verifies that purchase order items have been received in good condition, quantities verified, then delivers to college or department offices.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and Abilities: Working knowledge of correct English grammar for use in simple sentence structure. Ability to match names and numbers quickly and accurately; learn general office procedures and the operation of simple office equipment; use the touch method of typing; keep simple records; read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; perform mathematical calculations; learn and apply inventory control methods and safe methods of moving supplies and equipment; and follow oral and written directions. License: A valid California driver's license when necessary to perform the duties of the position
Required Qualifications
1. Demonstrated ability to maintain inventory records and preparing inventory reports. 2. Ability to perform physical inventory of property. 3. Demonstrated ability to use material handling/packaging equipment, pallet jackets, dollies and familiarity with package tracking numbering systems, scanners and shipping documents. 4. Ability to work independently on assigned projects, setting priorities, and being accountable for work results. 5. Ability to receive and relay information and respond to questions from various client groups such as faculty, staff, administration, customers, and the general public. 6. Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. 7. Ability to use software programs such as, but not limited to; MS Excel, inventory control, package custody tracking, paperless form processing, and online public sales. 8. Excellent customer service skills. 9. Possession of a valid California driver's license. 10. Ability to occasionally lift up to 45 lbs. 11. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community
Preferred Qualifications
12. Experience working in a high paced receiving and/or inventory management department in higher education. 13. Experience with reconciling inventories, keeping inventory control records, and producing reports. 14. Experience using advanced functions of Microsoft Excel. 15. Ability to apply independent judgement, discretion, and initiative, to address difficult problems with creative solutions.
