CA Gambling Control Commission is Hiring a Remote STAFF SERVICES ANALYST

Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, Licensing Division, the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) is responsible for conducting research, analysis, and exercising independent judgement and discretion to interpret and report on data and apply, statutes, regulations, and policies and procedures to support suitability determinations.
This position is eligible to participate in a hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to the Commission's Telework policy and supervisor’s approval. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. Headquarters is located in Sacramento.

Working Conditions

Fingerprinting: Applicants will be fingerprinted for the purpose of obtaining criminal records check.
This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The appointee is required to complete a Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and annually thereafter. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

The state hiring process. Special Requirements

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS (SOQ) IS REQUIRED. To be considered for this position, you must submit an SOQ. An SOQ is a narrative discussion of how an applicant’s education, training, experience, and skills meet the criteria below and qualify them for the position.
INSTRUCTIONS:
When completing the SOQ, applicants must follow these guidelines:
  • Applicants first and last name must be included in the top right corner of each page;
  • Responses must be typed in TIMES NEW ROMAN font, 11-point font size, and the SOQ cannot exceed two (2) pages in length;
  • Restate and number each question before providing your response; and,
  • Answer each numbered question separately. Be specific with your responses and provide work examples.
  • Please describe how your education, training, experience, and/or skills align with the essential duties and desirable qualifications outlined in the duty statement.
  • Please provide an example from your work experience that demonstrates your ability to establish successful working relationships and communicate effectively with varying levels of staff, management and/or stakeholders.
The SOQ will be evaluated based on the quality of examples provided with each question.Applications without a SOQ or incomplete SOQ’s will be eliminated.
Resumes/Cover Letters do not take the place of the SOQ.
