This position will communicate and educate Buyers, Product Development (“PD”), Vendor Relations (“VR”), agents, and vendors in relevant quality and performance requirements.This position will also oversee test and inspection report review and will provide guidance for any issues that require escalation.The Manager will serve as the main point of contact for quality issues internally and within the supply chain for designated product categories. **Duties and Responsibilities:** Partner with buyers, PD, VR, and Legal to understand product lines, priorities, and vendors within designated categories. Communicate and educate buyers, PD, VR, agents, and vendors in relevant quality and performance requirements. Drive test and inspection report review Ensure timely quality review and approval of select product samples as needed. Special projects as assigned, such as root/cause analysis, benchmarking requirements to industry, researching new topics of interest, etc. Develop Specialist to enhance their fluency in industry standards and test methods relevant to designated product categories, thus increasing their skill set and improving service to internal and external partners. **Product Validation** Communicate and educate Buyers, PD, VR, vendors, and agents in relevant quality and performance requirements. Partner with merchants to review product assortments to drive a reduction in testing and inspection costs. Manage “Specialist-Product Quality” Train and provide guidance as needed. Review and analyze corrective action for “Fail” testing and inspection results, providing technical expertise to drive effective corrective action. Communicate with lab on requirements and report issues. Understand vendor performance and top failure reasons. Work on ways to improve vendor performance and manage retesting costs. Gatekeeper on shipment decisions based on findings from test report analysis. Liaise with Legal as needed. Visit local stores to audit product quality. **Buyer and Product Development Support** Partner with Buyers and PD to understand product lines, priorities, vendors, and programs. Attend strategy meetings, line reviews, Buyer/PD meetings and vendor meetings as needed to offer technical expertise on design, construction, and product performance requirements. Communicate and educate Buyers, PD, VR, vendors, and agents in relevant quality and performance requirements. Act as the main point of contact for quality, testing, and inspection issues. Make recommendations to Buyers/PD for product improvement. Work collaboratively with Buyers/PD to ensure the test protocol is capturing product features and other quality tests deemed important. Quality review and approval of select product samples **Special Projects – Upon Request** Research new topics of interest. Benchmark requirements to industry Assist with program documentation. Other projects as assigned, such as root/cause analysis. **Education:** Bachelor of Science **Licenses/Certification/Registration:** ASQ CQE or CQM/OE a plus **Experience:** Minimum of 7 years of quality experience for a major retailer Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience Experience in retail merchandise operations or support (Buying, Sourcing, QA, Design, etc.) Knowledge of overseas sourcing processes and systems (PLM) Knowledge of quality tools and techniques such as 6 Sigma, Lean, GMP, QMS or similar **Skills and Abilities:** Strong reasoning and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to understand and implement appropriate industry standards such as ASTM, AATCC, ANSI, BIFMA, etc. Successful and effective management of subordinates in prior positions **Come join our team.
