Compensation - $45,000 - $65,000
General Duties:
The Staff Accountant performs a variety of tasks in the areas of Accounting, including Cash Management and Reconciliations, assisting the Director of Finance, the accounting team and other BUL staff members in the preparation of financial & supporting documentation as required.
Specific Duties:
1. Accounting software proficiency in Fund EZ or similar applications (Quickbooks, Sage, etc.) to record, store and analyze financial information.
2. Verify figures, postings and documents for proper accounting entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
3. Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers, spreadsheets or databases.
4. Independently research, analyze and reconcile cash and general ledger accounts.
5. Assist with General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable month- end close and year-end audit preparation.
6. Operate 10-key calculators and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.
7. Receive, record, and prepare bank deposits and A/P checks.
8. Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
9. Assist and support finance department with grant reporting process.
10. Code documents according to company procedures.
11. Assist with budgets, audits and account reconciliations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance plus 2 years experience in accounting or cash management and reconciliation, non-profit and/or grant reporting a plus.
Competencies:
1. Accounting software proficiency in Fund EZ or similar applications (Quickbooks, Sage, etc,).
2. Excellent attention to detail.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to communicates appropriately with co-workers and funders and seek assistance when needed.
4. Ability to perform job requirements using specific computer hardware, accounting software programs and the Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Comes equipped with Fund & Grant accounting and reporting skills, or has the ability to learn quickly on the fly. Can understand complex business transactions.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
7. Ability to multitask in completing work.
8. Ability to exercise and interpret policy and fiscal guidelines.
9. Spreadsheet proficiency and advanced skills using Microsoft Excel.
