POSITION SUMMARY
Provides a variety of case management services to inmates confined at the Bucks County Department of Corrections. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Conducts classifications on all commitments to identify offender needs and housing concerns.
  • Orients and educates new/recent admissions to each facility.
  • Maintains caseload which includes, but is not limited to, creating/updating case plans, ensuring court requirements are satisfied, handling offender issues, and facilitates work release and reentry planning. 
  • Sends internal and external referrals as required.
  • Corresponds with courts, probation and parole, social services and other outside agencies as required. Assists with criminal and civil virtual hearings, as necessary.
  • Presents custody level reviews to supervisors. 
  • Assists in general supervision of personnel who may be performing occasional case management duties, i.e., practicum students, etc.
  • Conducts program facilitation and assists with virtual programs as needed.
  • Submit reports as required.
  • May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job. More detailed instructions as to the nature of their duties will be given to employees at the beginning of work.
  • Provides crisis intervention, as necessary.
  • Functions as part of the Unit Management Team.
  • In an emergency situation, assume the duties of Corrections Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with one-year correctional experience, or a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Criminal Justice system with a clear understanding of Corrections.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of OMSe, JNET, CorreTrak, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to type 35 WPM. 
  • Possess a high stress tolerance capacity; be very adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Requires a valid vehicle operator’s license prior to appointment and during tenure as a Case Manager.
  • Ability to perform duties while “locked” inside a correctional facility in direct contact with incarcerated offenders.
  • Must successfully complete the Department of Corrections’ Basic Training class.
