Overview

A highly skilled and experienced farm manager is sought to oversee all aspects of agricultural operations on an expansive property located in Shelter Island, NY. Private, self contained accommodation will be provided to the candidate on-site or in the local area, for those candidates who are not within a commutable distance to Shelter Island.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive farm plans to optimize crop yields and maintain the overall health of the farm ecosystem.
• Oversee all aspects of crop cultivation, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting.
• Coordinate the maintenance and repair of farm equipment, including tractors, implements, and irrigation systems. Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.
• Implement sustainable farming practices to minimize environmental impact and promote conservation efforts. Explore opportunities for renewable energy, water conservation, and organic farming methods.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in farming, with a deep understanding of crop cultivation, and sustainable agricultural practices. The Farm Manager will be responsible for maximizing productivity, and maintaining the overall integrity of the farm.
• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in farm management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Deep knowledge of crop cultivation and agricultural best practices.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Salary and Benefits

• $80k-$130k full benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k)
