Bristol Adventures, the premier sport fishing and tourism company in Alaska is seeking an Accounting Specialist for its headquarters located in Anchorage, Alaska. Bristol Adventures is the tourism subsidiary of Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) and operates four iconic fishing/adventure lodges located throughout Bristol Bay, Alaska, along with a fully operational air service.

As an Accounting Specialist, you are primarily responsible for coding accounts payable, reviewing invoices and payment requests for processing, entering and reconciling P-Card statements, assisting HR with completion of various employee forms, submitting company bi-weekly time sheets as well as certain month-end processing and accounting related tasks. The job duties also include preparing bank deposits, sorting mail, filing, copying and other administrative tasks.
Essential Job Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly reconciliations and closing journal entries for all Tourism companies.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts.
• Compile and code monthly cash receipts and wires for each company.
• Update daily cash activity in the central treasury reconciliation.
• Perform all research for customers in the accounts payable system.
• Review data entry for the accounts payable specialist to ensure accuracy of information entered.
• Post bi-weekly Tourism payroll and reconcile payroll liability accounts.
• Create employee records in system and add new hire documentation.
• Update changes to employee records including status changes, pay rate updates, address, W-4 and 401(k) changes
• Process timesheets and review employee timekeeping for compliance with Department of Labor laws and company policy.

Essential Skills

• Knowledgeable and proficient in the usage of computers, especially Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks is preferred.
• Must be organized and have the ability to meet deadlines while multi- tasking.
• Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to be highly accurate in work performance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience accounts payable and general ledger experience.
• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Educational Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Coursework in accounting or business is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Frequent sitting and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Work performed in a professional office environment.
