The Role
We’re searching for an Engineering Manager to help us scale our team and our engineering organization as a whole. This person will be responsible for bringing out the best in their team of engineers. You will coach individuals and set (and remove) processes to help teams operate efficiently. You’ll mentor, share feedback, guide careers, and create an inclusive environment where people can do their best work. We have ambitious goals to scale, and need an experienced manager to help us do so.
What you'll be doing
Leading and developing a high performance and diverse team of engineers and technologists of varying seniority levels
Coaching engineers by making sure they get feedback, and helping them act on it
Charting out career paths and building development plans for team members
Helping set and uphold high standards for code quality, test coverage, and platform stability without sacrificing delivery and iteration speed
Connecting business requirements to engineering goals, and ensuring they stay in step
Collaborating with product, design, data, and business counterparts to solve customer problems with technology
Iterating on internal processes to help the team achieve more with less, and deliver impactful features for our users
Contributing to technical direction by evaluating large strategic decisions, and by evaluating design documents for engineering initiatives
What You Have
5 years of hands-on professional software development experience
2 years of software engineering management and mentorship experience
A desire to build an inclusive, diverse, and high performing team. Even better if you've done that many times already in a startup environment.
Experience regularly collaborating with product and design teams
You've built large and complex projects at scale, and maintained them over many release cycles
We use Java running in GCP, and React Native. If you have experience in that stack, all the better, but it’s not strictly necessary.
