Overview:
Brickyard Hollow Brewing Company is seeking a Controller to join our executive team. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Operations, this pivotal role involves starting the finance department from scratch, including hiring an additional bookkeeper. The Controller will work closely with the EVP and General Managers to uphold strict pricing and purchasing standards. This position is designed for a leader who can provide financial guidance to operational managers and instill best practices throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
Accounting Functions: Manage all aspects including forecasting, budgeting, accounts payable, business & occupation and sales tax remittances, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and period closing processes.
Human Resources, Payroll & Operations: Oversee payroll preparation, monitor vacation and sick time, handle paperwork from governmental agencies (e.g., unemployment forms, garnishment forms, L&I claims), calculate bonuses for employees with incentive plans, maintain a calendar for performance reviews and salary adjustments, and ensure compliance with insurance renewals.
Purchasing & Pricing: Develop a consolidated purchasing program to reduce the number of vendors and move towards invoice automation, supervise the completion of recipe costing within our new accounting system, and enforce ongoing adherence to recipe costing standards.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a multi-unit restaurant or catering environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to integrate closely with the management team.
Hands-on approach with a track record of fiscal leadership and instilling best practices.
