Maintenance Technician

A full-time, competitively paid position at a first-rate college preparatory school for boys.

Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia seeks a Maintenance Technician to support the successful operations of the middle and high school campuses in alignment with the school’s mission: preparing boys for success in college and beyond. The technician will be responsible for the general maintenance, operation, and cleanliness of all assigned buildings and grounds. The assistant will perform routine tasks and schedule preventative maintenance including visual inspection, testing equipment, repairs, and monitoring. The technician will work closely with the Manager of Facilities and custodial team, and report to the Chief Administrative Officer.

The technician will perform the following duties:

• Maintenance of assigned buildings, including classrooms, offices, toilet rooms, hallways, stairwells, and multipurpose rooms.
• Maintenance of assigned grounds, including athletic fields, laws, parking lots, and sidewalks, by regularly cleaning these spaces and keeping them free of snow, ice, and other debris.
• Inventory, maintenance, service, and minor repairs of equipment, supplies, and other school property.
• Diagnose electrical, plumbing, carpentry, dry wall, and other similar problems and make repairs as needed and directed.
• Provide a safe and clean educational environment that meets the school’s high standards and complies with all applicable laws.
• Perform safety-related inspections, and safeguard the school against vandalism, fire, storm damage, and other hazards.
• Receive, store, and place all supplies, furniture, and equipment in the proper location.
• Set up, dismantle, or move furniture and portable instructional equipment and supplies as requested via the school’s ticketing system.
• Make minor repairs to doors, bookcases, desks, and other similar items as requested via the school’s ticketing system.
• Support a school environment that is welcoming, academic, joyful, and safe.

• Ability to sit, stand, crouch, climb, walk, and reach for extended periods of time, and lift and move 60 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to learn the methods and appropriate materials, tools, and equipment used in custodial work.
• Ability to meet approved physical and medical standards.
• Awareness of safety requirements in a school. Previous safety and maintenance training preferred.
• Previous construction, maintenance, plumbing, and/or electrical experience preferred.
• Any license or certification related to building operations preferred.
• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience required. Vocational/Technical School Diploma preferred.
• Personal vehicle with valid Driver’s License required.
