Business Development Sales Executive (Employee Benefits)

Job Description:

Due to continued expansion and growth our client seeks a Sales Executive or Business Development Executive (BDE) that will generate New Sales in Group (commercial) Employee Health, Life and Ancillary Benefits, in the Knoxville/Eastern TN area, and beyond. This person should have at least 3 years sales experience in employee benefits, insurance, brokerage, and knowledge of group health, ancillary and benefits administration products (required). Ideal person has an established network in the Knoxville/Eastern TN area, is independent, entrepreneurial, and has proven sales success with a hunter mentality. A Life and Health license is strongly preferred. The BDE is responsible for developing new business opportunities and closing sales to achieve established annual sales goals. The BDE works closely and in partnership with Business Development Associates and/or marketing team to identify and cultivate leads, as well as effectively close business. Effective communication, listening, and strategic selling skills are critical to success. Competitive compensation of base and commission being offered!

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, prospects, and closes new business via referrals, networking sources, and organic prospect meetings.

  • Works closely with BDAs and/or marketing team to strategically nurture and cultivate prospects.

  • Closes sales and meets or exceeds aggressive quarterly and annual revenue goals.

  • Builds rapport and business relationships quickly and effectively via face to face and phone, social media, blogs, and other thought leadership opportunities.

  • Educates prospects on business trends, compliance, products evolution, and company value proposition.

  • Manages sales pipeline and sales activities via company database (Microsoft CRM).

  • Attends association events and meetings based on targeted verticals.

  • Establishes vendor relationships and develop referral sources.

  • Seeks opportunities for speaking engagements with select association verticals.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree, preferred.

Desired Background/Skills:

  • 3 years sales experience in employee benefits, insurance, brokerage, or related field, required.

  • Knowledge of group health, ancillary and benefits administration products, required.

  • 7 years of experience with lead and sales generation, preferred; 5 years, required.

  • Health and Life license required.

Qualifications:

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to articulate company value proposition and capabilities.

  • Must be PC proficient and familiar with database applications, Microsoft Office, and contact management tools.

  • Can thrive in a fast paced environment.

  • Possess highly effective consultative selling skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask prioritize and achieve sales objectives.
