Description

SUMMARY: The Grants Coordinator II position conducts grant project research, development, coordination, and management. Efforts with grants require a range of skills that include project management, research, and data analysis to strong communications skills. Strong writing and presentation skills are essential. This position focuses on research, applications, and managing reporting requirements for state, local, and tribal government grants. 

The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will serve as a member of the Resource Development Team. The work engages every department of the organization, including Clubhouse, Athletics, Child Development, and Administration.?

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct advanced research on various types of state, local, tribal and other grants available to Boys & Girls Clubs Alaska, considering its mission, vision, and programmatic priorities, and the qualifying criteria for each.
  • Lead discussions on available state, local, tribal and other funding and other resources with the Resource Development Team and other agency decision-makers.
  • Establish and maintain communication with potential state funders and potential programmatic partners to refine ideas for proposal development.
  • Coordinate the compilation of necessary information for state grant application processes through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings.
  • Draft, review, and finalize state, local, tribal and other grant applications according to application requirements.
  • Ensure state, local, tribal and other grants are submitted on time and within application parameters, overseeing the entire submission process.
  • Complete all documents, forms, and/or reports required of state, local, tribal and other grant awards for submission.
  • Lead the coordination of the monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects that are funded through state, local, tribal and other grants.
  • Develop and maintain master files on state grants and documentation connected to programs funded by state, local, tribal and other grant awards.
  • Support and lead other efforts of the Resource Development Team, as needed, including efforts in individual giving, corporate giving, events, communication, and volunteers.

Requirements

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university in a field that supports the skill sets required of the position. 
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential preferred or a willingness to complete CFRE certification within three years of employment.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in grant development required, with a focus on state, local, tribal and other grant coordination
  • Proven experience in state grant applications, writing and research 
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Professionally present in front of 10-100 people in virtual and in-person settings. 
  • Excellent public relations and customer service skills. 
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities, at all times displaying tact, maturity, and flexibility. 
  • Ability to guide others through individual and group informational or learning sessions. 
  • Strong computer skills that include word processing, spreadsheets, database applications and the ability to learn new systems, as needed. The current office environment includes the Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and Teams. A tailored Salesforce (CRM) program, MyClubHub, is used for data management tied to resource development, including grants and volunteers. 
  • Strong social media skills, including an understanding of key platforms, trends, and current best practices. 
  • Ability to achieve and maintain First Aid and CPR certification. 
  • Must pass a name-based and fingerprint criminal records background check. 
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving history

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Primarily a normal internal work environment. Performing the duties of this job may include activities hosted outdoors in various weather conditions. Noise levels for activities in the Club environment may be loud. 
  • The position will include regular local travel to Clubs in the Anchorage/Mat-Su region and occasional travel to other communities the Clubs serve statewide. 
  • Work during evenings and weekends will occasionally be required, given the nature of the position and its connection with community partners.
