Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

Summary:
This position will develop grant applications from federal, state, and private sources to fund projects benefitting the health and well-being of Alaska Native people. This position is responsible for the overall research, planning, coordination, development, writing, and editing of grant proposals to ensure submission on or before deadlines.

Responsibilities:
Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with other staff across the organization to stay informed about ANTHC initiatives, priorities, projects and current funding needs. Researches local, State and Federal funding sources - including government grants, foundations and corporations - and identifies appropriate funding strategies for projects and initiatives. Utilizes knowledge of ANTHC priorities and funding needs to connect viable funding opportunities with projects across campus. Identifies and convenes a proposal team for each grant assigned that includes all parties necessary to evaluate and submit a competitive application. Facilitates a series of meetings with the team to develop the project in the appropriate timeframe. Coordinates any clarifying questions with funding agency contacts. Performs all necessary background or factual research to develop a strong need statement for each application. Coordinates with grant team members to collect data, community statistics, graphs, maps, articles and related information for analysis in preparation for grant writing and proposal development. Writes and edits proposal narratives and accompanying documents to ensure the proposal is technically responsive to the grant opportunity. Presents the project to the funder in the most favorable manner, including adhering to submission requirements and responsiveness to scoring criteria and funding priorities. Develops binding documents such as Memorandums of Agreement and Letters of Commitment with partner organizations to define grant project deliverables. Provides subject matter expertise on funders, forms, databases, financial allowances, Code of Federal Regulations, policies and procedures. Creates project budgets that accurately represent project costs and are in alignment with allowable costs in accordance with the grant requirements and the Code of Federal Regulations. Conducts in-depth review of all grant requirements and regulations to determine potential risk to ANTHC. Liaise with Legal, Intergovernmental Affairs and Compliance on any necessary documents or verbiage that could impact the organization. Navigates complex federal and state databases to ensure submission of the proposal. Establishes and maintains relationships and key communication with core funding partners. Serves as the initial and primary organizational contact for private funders. Reviews foundation grant reports for consistency between narratives, issues affecting the project and milestones. Coordinates with the Program Manager to submit grant reports before the deadline. Convenes and facilitates all site visits from funders to ensure consistency and connection to proper leadership across campus. Facilitates post-grant submission meeting in collaboration with the grant development team, and others necessary, to evaluate the process for any improvements. Supports Directors, Program Managers and accountants in routine grant management activities. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, public health or a related field. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
M inimum Experience Qualification:
G rant Writer I Non-supervisory – Two (2) years relevant technical writing, grant writing, fundraising or project management experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
G rant Writer II Non-supervisory - Four (4) years of successful grant writing for federal or state funders, and/or private foundations. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
