Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is a key financial leader that partners across departments and leads the monthly close cycle and accounting operations of four North America operating entities while ensuring financial accuracy and integrity, reporting to the Controller. This position is located at our Carlsbad, California Bollé Brands North America headquarters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages accounting operations:
    1. Cash management/banking transactions
    2. Accounts payable and disbursements
    3. Review of payroll, commissions, prepaids, fixed assets, reserves and accruals
    4. Review and/or preparation of journal entries and reconciliations
    5. Supervise a small accounting team
  • Hands-on management and development of accounting processes:
    1. Development of internal controls to maximize efficiencies and minimize risk
    2. Implementation of best practices/process improvements
  • Preparation and review of consolidated GAAP/IFRS financial statements through data analysis, document preparation, integrity validation and reconciliation processes:
    1. Drive monthly close, reconciliations, analysis and reporting
    2. Analyze contracts/agreements, research business transactions, formulate technical accounting memos and establish proper accounting treatment
    3. Develop and implement practical application of accounting standards
    4. Focal point for providing key financial reports and information related to financial results
  • Team up with management and FP&A to develop relevant, timely internal reports on financial data analytics:
    1. Monthly flash and key financial metrics
    2. Actual spend vs budgets/forecast
  • Key role in implementation and integration of systems supporting the business:
    1. Consolidation of ERP instances (data migration, testing, training)
    2. Subject matter expert of tools/software (i.e., sales tax, consolidation, banking/treasury, credit card, expense reports)
  • Project management of annual audit, tax and improvement initiatives:
    1. Manage annual audit and tax processes
    2. Review and/or prepare audit/tax schedules, reconciliations and analytics
    3. Lead accounting related business improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

Hands-on, results driven, detail-oriented accounting professional operating with steadfast integrity and high emotional intelligence.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting required
  • Minimum 7 years accounting experience with progressive responsibilities
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity with demonstrated experience with accounting close, financial reporting, accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • CPA highly desired (with experience in public accounting), GAAP knowledge required, IFRS knowledge desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to support and enhance a team-based environment
  • Minimum ERP Tier 2 experience required, cloud-based or SaaS preferred; Oracle NetSuite experience highly desired
  • Proficiency with technology tools, including minimum intermediate Excel proficiency, advanced Excel proficiency desired
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, organizational skills and ability to adapt, multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
  • Industry experience in retail, action sports or manufacturing highly desired
  • Must be comfortable navigating the constraints of a group of smaller companies that report into an international corporate parent company with larger responsibilities to corporate shareholders
