We pride ourselves on our work/life balance! Job Overview Bob’s Services, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Controller to join our dynamic team who is eager to take on new challenges. We're the largest company in our field in Alaska and we’re passionate about constantly improving and we need a Controller who can match our energy and drive.
As the Controller, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations and integrity to include general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and project accounting. This role will also provide management oversight to administrative and human resources functions. In addition to the typical duties, this position also serves as a key member in Bob’s Services “Scaling Up” committee, which provides strategic direction in developing our company to be best in class. The Controller is a high-level management position reporting directly to the CFO and President who will rely on your valuable input.
This person will require a strategic mindset, hands-on approach and willingness to tackle anything. Duties & Responsibilities Supervise transactional processes, including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, project costing and general ledger entries. Ensure accuracy in recording financial transactions and maintain detailed supporting documentation. Develop and review regular financial reporting, project analysis, and projections.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements. Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company and client assets and ensure accuracy and integrity in financial reporting. Establish, communicate, implement, and revise standard accounting policies and procedures to ensure excellence and consistency across the Company. Ensure timely reporting and payments to governmental agencies for payroll taxes, excise and sales taxes.
Manage treasury functions to include cash management, positive pay administration and reconciling bank accounts. Regularly review and update internal control processes to address any identified weaknesses. Monitor and enforce compliance with established accounting policies and procedures. Prepare supporting information for insurance and workers compensation audits.
Prepare and manage the annual financial review with the external CPA firm. Oversee accounting systems and technology, ensuring they support efficient and accurate financial reporting. Implement process and systems improvements and updates as identified needed. Leverage accounting software and technology to streamline processes and reduce the likelihood of errors.
Coordinate Human Resource employee benefits for medical insurance, COBRA, ADD, life insurance and retirement savings accounts, Demonstrate strong leadership and team-building skills, and develop and mentor accounting staff. Ensure that team members are trained and proficient in using relevant accounting tools. This includes setting performance goals, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment Foster collaboration and open communication between the accounting department and team members company wide. Strong understanding of general accounting processes and procedures. Fundamental understanding of creating and executing processes. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with both internal team members and external individuals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Is a self-directed, creative problem solver able to deliver strong results with minimal supervision in an unstructured environment. Has the ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines. Has a proven record of sound judgment in the workplace.
Approaches tasks and projects with a flexible, solution-oriented attitude and has an ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Demonstrates integrity, credibility, and dignity in an environment of mutual trust and respect. Curious in nature and is passionate about learning and career advancement. Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting and fifteen (15) years of related accounting experience Minimum of five (5) years of management experience with demonstration of increased responsibility and strong supervisory skills CPA license preferred but not required Experience with payroll, accounts payable and job costing Very Experienced with Microsoft Excel Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Office Suite Experience with Sage 100 ERP a plus but not required Ability to pass a background and drug screening Evaluate and enhance accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Ability to implement best practices to streamline workflows and enhance financial operations. Benefits Traditional Medical and Dental insurance coverage for $20 per month for single employee $1,500 HSA annual account contribution for single employee ($2,500 for family) Retirement plan with 3% employer match Paid Holidays Paid time off (PTO) accrues by pay period.
