Travis Pointe Country Club, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and managed by Bobby Jones Links, is hiring for a Catering Account Manager. Built in 1977, Travis Pointe is one of the state’s elite private clubs, featuring four season amenities, including indoor and outdoor pools, 4 indoor courts and outdoor large tennis complex, aquatics facility, indoor golf simulators, and a fitness center.

Travis Pointe has hosted the LPGA Volvik Championship, as well as numerous tournaments throughout the years, including the EPSON Tour, the Michigan Amateur Championship, the Women’s Western Amateur, the Women’s Michigan Open, US Mid-Amateur qualifying, and numerous US Open and US Senior Open qualifiers.

Responsibilities of the Catering Account Manager at Travis Pointe Country Club include:

  • Assists in developing sound sales strategies for food & beverage including catering, weddings and meetings throughout the year.
  • Assists in the development of catering and banquet menus, banquet wine lists and bar menus, pricing, catering contracts, and rental fees.
  • Leads system-wide strategy and execution for the catering line of business.
  • Sets a strategic plan for driving the catering business.
  • Ensures proper management of all catered events, including, but not limited to: basic set up, table placement, buffet design, bar location, sales, marketing, planning, merchandising, servicing, and corresponding administrative procedures.
  • Executes events based upon Function Sheets. Ensures creation of Function Sheets are accurate to the services and setups to be provided.
  • Proactively upsells groups to include food & beverage, merchandise, rentals, etc.
  • Develops a clear and concise sales process to attract groups, weddings and catered events with effective follow-up for each.
  • Represents the facility on appropriate site visits including golf outings, weddings, catered events and potential meetings.
  • Ensures that appropriate staff organizes and executes all group events in a detailed manner.
  • Utilizes social media outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter, to generate awareness for the facility including exploring and creating different public relations opportunities for the facility.
  • Uses knowledge to continually make improvements to tools, sales focus, and product innovation.

The for this position varies and is event based, and from time to time will require a work week beyond 5 days. Compensation is a base salary plus commissions.

Qualifications


The Catering Account Manager must have the following skills:

  • The ability to identify and advise on market revenue challenges as they relate to catering.
  • Proactivity regarding anticipated changes in business.
  • Menu design (with Executive Chef) to maximize operating profit.
  • Knowledgeable about food and paper costs, margins and competitive pricing, products, and promotions.
  • Must pursue knowledge of Catering and Banquet operations and budgeting.
  • Must present a professional appearance and confidence; exceptional oral and written communications skills; time management skills; conflict management skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of banquet department (sets, AV equipment, scheduling, menu planning).
