BNY Mellon is Hiring a Vice President, Market and Liquidity Risk I Near Pittsburgh, PA

Description:

The Treasury department is responsible for the management of BNY Mellon’s balance sheet. It assumes a variety of risks in its activities to generate net interest income, largely through the monetization of the firm’s deposit base through its investment portfolio of fixed income securities. Additionally, the Treasury drives the allocation of the Firm’s financial resources across the company, balancing capital and liquidity needs and demands and works to create the appropriate financial incentives for the businesses using these scarce resources. BNY also operates in a number of countries which exposes it to the impact of changes in FX rates on earnings and capital.

The Treasury Risk function is the second line of defense responsible for the oversight of liquidity risk, interest rate risk, investment portfolio mark-to-market risk, and capital risk at BNY Mellon.

The Framework Management group is part of Treasury Risk and has the overall mandate to drive the design and operation of the Treasury Risk oversight framework, including policies, governance, procedures, standards, practices, internal controls and quality control activities to promote effective risk oversight, in alignment with firm’s best practices and regulatory requirements.

The Vice President will be responsible for a variety of activities including:

  • Assist in the development and ongoing application of the group's risk oversight framework, practices, standards, internal controls, policies/procedures, and quality control activities to promote effective risk oversight
    • Functional coverage includes liquidity risk, interest rate risk, portfolio risk, and capital oversight
  • Support the execution of the firm-wide Treasury Risk limit framework
  • Analyze and develop data analytics, reporting, monitoring, and tools to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
  • Partner with technology staff to create, develop, and implement new risk analysis platform and data initiatives
  • Develop procedures, training materials, and related documents to ensure continued adherence with firm-wide policies and promote consistency in risk reporting practices
  • Provide support for audit and regulatory reviews

Responsibilities and opportunity will evolve with the rapid development of the Framework Management Risk function, Treasury Risk function, and Risk & Compliance department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of total work experience with 4-7 years of experience in market or liquidity risk preferred. Experience in financial services is preferred
  • Background in math, statistics, finance, economics, business, risk management, operations research, engineering or a similar field is preferred
  • Desire to work across entities and geographies, and ability to manage conflicts and mediate disagreements to build and enforce an effective risk framework

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
