Position Overview
The overall objective of the Procurement Specialist Role is to support the Manufacturing and Field Construction operations. They play a vital role in Operations, as they ensure the profitability of project budgets, by purchasing the most cost-effective and appropriate materials for each job. A Procurement Specialist will obtain necessary reviews and approvals of bidder exceptions, bid evaluations, recommendations, purchase orders, and change orders prior to execution.
Principal Responsibilities
The overall objective of the Procurement Specialist Role is to support the Manufacturing and Field Construction operations. They play a vital role in Operations, as they ensure the profitability of project budgets, by purchasing the most cost-effective and appropriate materials for each job. A Procurement Specialist will obtain necessary reviews and approvals of bidder exceptions, bid evaluations, recommendations, purchase orders, and change orders prior to execution.
Principal Responsibilities
- Negotiate with suppliers on lead-time, cost, and quality to obtain the maximum benefit for the company.
- Development and documentation of employee manual and safety requirements.
- Prepare, issue, and administer purchase orders, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and applicable regulations; process and verify invoices.
- Ensure supplier performance and compliance in a cost-effective and timely manner; maintain purchase order and purchasing process documentation.
- Analyze all suppliers to select the most suitable suppliers who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing.
- Coordinate with the Structural Engineering and MEP Design teams to build project Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and accurately track the costs for all purchased project materials and equipment.
Professional Qualities and Experience
- 5 years’ experience in a construction purchasing role.
- 3 years of field construction experience.
- Experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing trades is preferred.
- Unfailing focus on customer service with a proven ability to deliver quality results on time.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution. Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate with senior management and other stakeholders.
- Experience utilizing QuickBooks, MS Office platform.
