- Machine Tooling and Assembly:
- Lead the development and implementation of machine tooling and assembly processes for space components or systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to design, optimize, and validate tooling fixtures, jigs, and equipment to support production and assembly activities.
- Troubleshoot machine tooling and assembly issues, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Project Leadership:
- Take a leadership role in managing and executing projects, from concept development through to delivery, with a focus on machine tooling, assembly, and related processes.
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and research and development to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Research and Development (R&D):
- Contribute to research and development activities aimed at advancing space manufacturing technologies, processes, and materials.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in machine tooling, assembly techniques, and related processes to enhance product performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to prototype, test, and validate new concepts, and transition successful innovations into production.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to machine tooling, assembly, and project engineering.
- Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to verify product conformance, reliability, and safety throughout the manufacturing and assembly phases.
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to address non-conformances, deviations, or discrepancies, and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in project engineering/leadership, with a focus on machine tooling, assembly, and project leadership.
- Technical expertise in machine tooling and assembly processes, including experience with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing technologies.
- Experience in research and development is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality standards, and best practices relevant to space manufacturing and project engineering.
