SUMMARY

As a Community Banker, you will play a vital role in fostering strong relationships with customers and local businesses in the community. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, understanding clients’ financial needs, offering tailored banking solutions, and carrying out the traditional banking functions of lending and deposit gathering for the bank. You will promote various banking products, advise customers on financial matters, and contribute to the growth and success of Blue Sky Bank within the local community by focusing on the needs of the bank’s local families, businesses, and farmers of the local community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with customers, understanding their financial goals and needs.
  • Conduct financial assessments and provide advice to customers on managing their finances, achieving financial goals, and making informed decisions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers, ensuring a personalized banking experience and addressing inquiries and concerns effectively.

2. Sales and Advisory:

  • Promote and sell a range of banking products and services to meet customers’ needs such as savings accounts, checking accounts, certificates of deposit, business and personal loans, credit cards, etc.
  • Establish and maintain a calling program with various sources of business through referral sources.
  • Maintain and update a pipeline for new and existing relationships.

3. Customer Service Excellence:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by providing accurate and timely information, resolving customer issues, and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Assist customers with transactions, account inquiries, and product information guiding them through banking processes and procedures.

4. Community Engagement:

  • Actively participate in community events, meetings, and outreach initiatives to represent the bank and establish a strong presence with the local community.
  • Identify and engage local organizations and events that align with the bank’s commitment to community service and involvement.

5. Compliance and Procedures:

  • Adhere to all banking policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements ensuring compliance with industry standards and ethical practices.
  • Stay informed about changes in banking regulations and product offerings to accurately inform and guide customers.
  • Evaluate the quality and capacity of borrowers and guarantors requesting loans.
  • Negotiate and structure loan and guarantee requests with potential borrowers/guarantors.
  • Underwrite and prepare credit memos and loan presentations for Loan Committee discussions.
  • Follow approved loans through commitment, documentation and closing while ensuring all terms and conditions of approval have been met, including loan documentation that is consistent with bank policies, procedures, and terms.
  • Review borrowers’ requests for loan and construction advances, as required/needed, while ensuring all submissions are accurate and consistent with loan documentation.
  • Address and resolve any issues that may arise in the approval, commitment, documentation, closing, or servicing of any loan request.
  • Monitor loan portfolio and maintains satisfactory credit information and files while ensuring timely financial information as required.
  • Monitor loan portfolio for covenant compliance and accurate risk assessment ratings.
  • Identify and respond, as appropriate, to changes in borrowers’ financial condition or collateral deterioration.

6. Other: 

  • Establishes, builds, develops, and maintains professional banking relationships with Management, Leadership, Marketing, and Compliance as well as Human Resources and product vendors utilized by the Bank.
  • Performs all job duties and responsibilities by being physically present at the Bank an average of 40 hours each week based on business needs.
  • Travels between branches as needed.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and requested by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with community lending.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and explain various banking products and services effectively.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging the community and representing the bank positively.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Excellent relationship-management and business-development skills.
  • Working knowledge of loan operations and strong documentation skills.
  • Excellent Leadership Skills.
  • Business Acumen.
