bioMérieux is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Technician I Near Salt Lake, UT

Position Summary
The Engineering Technician I (Eng. Tech I) is responsible for instrumentation production line support, focusing primarily on instrument troubleshooting. As such, an Eng. Tech I is expected to learn and apply root cause investigation techniques to solve troubleshooting problems and professionally document results. The Eng. Tech I works within a manufacturing engineering support team – generally under the leadership of more experienced individuals (e.g. engineers and/or managers). The Eng. Tech I reports to the Engineering Line Support Manager and interacts with other technicians, engineers, and leadership and performs work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BFDX’s Quality System. This engineering technician is expected to work and communicate professionally with other team members and leadership as assigned in order to meet the goals of the instrumentation department and bioMerieux company. 
Primary Duties
  • Responds professionally and efficiently to production needs/requests
  • Troubleshoots diagnostic instruments to identify root cause issues related to product and process and performs instrument repairs. (Accounts for approximately 90% of workload)
  • Writes and updates floor log tickets and nonconformances.
  • Works on problems of minor scope and complexity with engineers and other technicians to support engineering projects.
  • Support of continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, VSM, Kaizen, etc.
  • Performs all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMerieux Diagnostics Quality System.

  • Travel: minimal travel required.
  • Team: usually works on a team with several engineers and a project manager.
Qualifications
Training and Education
High School diploma; Associates Degree in a scientific/technical discipline a strong plus 
Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related field, including performance consistent with said experience. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  
Experience with the following is preferred: 
  • Electrical systems
  • Mechanical systems
  • Pneumatics
  • Troubleshooting
  • Hands on experience with repair
  • cGMP
  • Documentation
  • Continuous Improvement
