Bexar County is Hiring an Accountant II Near San Antonio, TX

Under direction, reviews, monitors and reports on a variety of matters regarding expenditures for various County offices and departments.
  • Maintains and reports financial accounting data for various County departments
  • Reviews and monitors County expenditures in accordance with the adopted budget
  • Audits and processes claims for payment to include travel, court appointed attorney vouchers, request for payments, and other payables as assigned
  • Monitors online attorney ad-litem system daily for payment processing
  • Prepares and records journal entries into financial system
  • Completes and records monthly and year-end accruals
  • Coordinates communication between other County departments, vendors, and court appointed attorneys
  • Reviews pending contracts with Bexar County for fund availability
  • Reviews purchasing card transaction reports and prepare entries for financial system
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or closely related field and two (2) years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in accounting area
  • Advanced working knowledge of desktop application skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft Excel; thorough knowledge of accepted accounting practices and procedures
  • Skill in problem solving, decision making, and maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to operate personal computer peripherals, and basic office equipment; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
  • Constantly working in indoor conditions
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
  • Occasionally moves about the office
  • Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Positions self to perform essential functions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position
