Essential FunctionsFunction: To assist in the financial management of sponsored projects through the application of basic fiscal principles and administrative regulations governing grants and contracts.
Scope: Responsible for the application of intermediate accounting knowledge to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and the acquisition of extramural funds.
Level II:- Prepare and submit billings to sponsoring agencies.
- Prepare expenditure reports in compliance with the sponsor's terms and conditions.
- Manage accounts receivable collections and prepare accounts receivable reconciliations.
- Prepare federal cash requests.
- Record bank (ACH) deposits.
- Prepare special financial reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist with special projects as directed.
Level III:- Oversee Accounts Receivable management/collections.
- Prepare Letter of Credit drawdowns.
- Prepare financial reports.
- Evaluate financial activities of service/recharge centers and facilities.
- Assist in the implementation of cost accounting procedures.
- Respond to various data requests/statistics.
- Initiate award accounts and set up budgets.
- Provide direction and guidance to Grant Accountant I and II.
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist with or lead special projects as directed.
Required QualificationsLevel II/III:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficiency with use of personal computer, accounting software, Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
Level II:- Two years of experience in grant or related accounting or post award administration of sponsored projects.
Level III:- Four years of experience in grant or related accounting and/or post award administration of sponsored projects.
Preferred QualificationsLevel II/III:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a concentration in accounting or a related field.
Level II:- Two years of grant accounting experience to include financial reporting and account reconciliation.
Level III:- Four years of grant accounting experience to include financial reporting and account reconciliation.
- Similar experience in a governmental or higher education environment.
- Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
Working ConditionsThis position will be primarily located at the Main UTSA Campus.
Work Modality:- Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
