Day (United States of America)Job Summary: The Magnet program director in collaboration with the Associate Chief Nurse of Professional Development coordinates the American Nurse Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Accreditation process at BIDMC .This individual is knowledgeable about the Magnet program and all associated requirements. This leadership role organizes and directs activities that contribute to advancing professional nursing at BIDMC and Magnet Accreditation. Is a liaison to teams throughout the organization to communicate Magnet goals and to facilitate cross-departmental work. Brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to the Magnet process and implements recommendations as needed. Collaborates with leadership and clinical staff across the organization to promote and enculturate Magnet principles throughout BIDMC.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Serves as the organization's Magnet Program expert and coordinator for application, interim reporting, documentation, and appraisal process.
  2. Serves as the liaison to the ANCC Magnet Program Office.
  3. Collaborates with clinical nurses and nursing leaders to develop and implement evidence-based programs that promote nursing excellence and the Magnet Accreditation.
  4. Supports nursing leaders and clinical staff in the identification and collection of evidence and outcome measures that highlight nursing excellence and support the Magnet document.
  5. Prepares the Magnet document and associated evidence for submission; manages associated data and performs data analytics related to Nursing Satisfaction, Patient Satisfaction and Nurse Sensitive Indicators.
  6. Supports Professional Governance and other nursing workgroups or committees in activities that promote nursing excellence and the Magnet accreditation.
  7. Directs and coaches nursing and interprofessional colleagues related to the Magnet Accreditation process.
  8. Facilitates and coordinates work with consultants as needed
  9. With the associate chief nurse for professional development and research, oversees the Magnet budget.
  10. Advises the nursing leadership team on progress toward readiness and issues needing recommendations.
  11. Has the responsibility to lead and support managers and directors in developing and improving operations to create optimal performance levels. Direct Reports: None Indirect Reports: None
Required Qualifications:
  1. Master's degree in Nursing or related field required.
  2. License Registered Nurse required.
  3. 5-8 years related work experience required and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience required
  4. If master's is in related field, a BSN is required.
  5. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

  4. Written Communications: Ability to communicate complex information in English effectively in writing to all levels of staff, management and external customers across functional areas.
  5. Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
  6. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate broad and comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex and/or unprecedented situations across multiple functional areas.
  7. Team Work: Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.
  8. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.
