Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Manager - Surgery

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to fill the role of Nurse Manager in our Surgery department. The Nurse Manager will oversee all aspects of patient care in the surgical unit, including coordinating and supervising nursing staff, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring high-quality care for all patients.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Manage day-to-day operations of the surgical unit, including staffing assignments, patient care coordination, and quality assurance.

2. Supervise and evaluate nursing staff, providing guidance and support as needed.

3. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

4. Collaborate with physicians, other healthcare providers, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes.

5. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality improvement projects.

6. Serve as a resource for patients and families, addressing concerns and providing education on surgical procedures and aftercare.

7. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.

8. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.

9. Contribute to the professional development of nursing staff through mentorship and training programs.

10. Stay current on advancements in surgical techniques, technology, and evidence-based practice guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Current RN license in the state of practice
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in surgical nursing
• Previous leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards in healthcare
• BLS and ACLS certification required
