SUMMARY

Paragon Professional Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Deputy Project Manager in Newark or New York City, NY. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this Manage daily operations at three (2) separate operational hubs locations in Newark, New Jersey and New York City.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) as it relates to Armed Transportation. 
  • The DPM will be positioned to provide a higher level of immediate supervision to the Newark and New York AORs.
  • This position reports to the Project Manager daily.
  • Act as primary liaison with ICE officials in the New York and Newark AORs; meeting as necessary to promote operational efficiency.
  • Review disciplinary recommendations from Site Supervisors, as well as from the Transportation Coordinator and submit to the Project Manager
  • Counsel employees on performance deficiencies as necessary
  • Managing uniforms and duty equipment to ensure that officers are receiving appropriate uniforms and replacement articles.
  • Reporting operational, administrative, and logistical issues to the Project Manager
  • Creating and distributing memos to all staff concerning safety awareness, hazard abatement and performance issues
  • Notifying the Project Manager of all disciplinary matters that may affect security clearances.
  • Coordinating the completion of the quarterly random drug testing
  • Serving as member of the selection panel for management positions and promotions
  • Preparing monthly training topics/information and testing for all supervisory staff
  • Ensuring staff credentials are not expired and coordinate all renewals for New York and New Jersey
  • Traveling periodically to assist the Project Manager
  • Assisting the Project Manager in overseeing the administrative and supervision of federal detainees, ensuring the contract staff observe all rights and privileges in accordance with PBNDS.
  • Reviewing all yearly staff evaluations
  • Reviewing all incidents and accidents and ensuring documentation to the COR

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Required (Minimum Necessary)

Associate degree or certification preferred in any of these related fields [Criminal Justice, Business Management, Law Enforcement (current or retired); or at least 5 years of related industry experience and have knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures for managing a security / armed transportation unit. Degree requirements may be met by work experience or the completion of a career development program that includes work related experience and training.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite programs such as, WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.

Preferred

  • Public Trust Clearance.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey and New York state gun laws
  • Knowledge of security guard qualifications/certifications for NJ and NY states
  • Leadership experience

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hires and supervises direct reports.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance and DoD Secret or higher clearance.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire and random drug tests and physicals.
  • Valid Driver’s License for the State you reside in

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
