Human Resources Business Consultant

Department: Human Resources (External)

Reports To: Director, Human Resources

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: Based on experience

Location: Buffalo, NY

Employment Status: Full-Time, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

Position Summary

The HR consultant is responsible for performing advanced, specialized, and administrative duties in a designated human resource area. Providing human capital management advisory services to businesses.

Essential Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Advising clients on the administration of human resources policies and procedures
  • Serving as consultants by analyzing a company's current HR programs and recommending solutions
  • Developing, revising, and implementing HR policies and procedures
  • Ensuring HR programs and services are in compliance with established policies and procedures and state/federal laws and regulations
  • Preparing and maintaining reports related to specific HR projects
  • Answers nonroutine requests for information on policy interpretation
  • Assists with developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow in the program or section area
  • Developing methods for compiling and analyzing data for reports and special projects
  • Conducting audits of HR activities to ensure compliance
  • Presenting training sessions related to specific HR programs
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field;
  • Seven to Ten years of professional-level experience in human resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Maturity in dealing with sensitive and confidential information is a must
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.

Special Notes:

  • Must maintain a current SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or be able to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
